Sorean's Virtual Home

2 Huge laughs in the past 12 hours.

So I figured I’d give “The Michael J. Fox Show” a try. Premise is that he is a famous news anchor in New York with Parkinson’s. In this particular episode the family is playing in a ball pit. Youngest son goes, “Wait guys, we lost dad.” Camera pans to an empty section of the ball pit that starts shaking and they move towards him. He gets up and goes, “How’d you find me?!” I laughed so hard. The show has promise.

I have always enjoyed his shows and I was very sad to hear that he got Parkinson’s years ago and the fact that he is back is wonderful.

Second funny factor. First watch this video:

The big 30

by on Mar.24, 2013, under Personal

My life has reached 30 years of existence today. Am I where I thought I’d be? Not exactly. Am I close? Not too far off.

I’ve mentioned it a few times in the past that I thought I would have been married by the time I was 25 and having kids by 27. I think that that could have been a possibility, but despite the fact that I’m not married yet, or having a kid yet, I’m not sad about it.

In the past 2 years I’ve made some incredibly amazing friends in the world of dodgeball. Playing on different teams every once in a while, but I always love my Duck Dodgers. That group of people will always hold a place in my heart as my first dodgeball team and most love. We’ve played together and grown together in the past 2, maybe 3 years. We’ve gotten better every step of the way, some more than others, but constantly growing. We’ve lost some people, but we’ve gained some too, but the most important thing is that we’ve always had fun as a team. We also play tournaments, sometimes as a team, sometimes as a draft option with a few other friendly teams we know. Essentially some people volunteer to be captains (I’m usually one of them), and then we just draw names from a hat. Gives you a bunch of different people to play with and better relationships with those people.

Still playing volleyball, will never stop. We recently won Battle of Alberta Intermediate Plus Volleyball tournament. The tier is one down from competitive which are full of ex-university players. People who would frankly destroy me and my team.  I do love my volleyball 🙂

We did get the venue mentioned previously, but I’ll talk about that later. My best friend’s wedding is in a little over a month away and I still have a toast to him and his wife to write. I know what I’m putting in it, but it’s a matter of making sure I put a full story together. I hope they don’t take the wrong message away when I give it 🙂

Well it’s time to head out for my birthday dinner and I’ll leave you with my best friend’s proposal video that he popped on her 3 years ago at one of his shows.

Yes, title was on purpose.

Oh wow, a post!

I’m not dead yet, although from the state of these posts you might think I am.

We might have a venue picked, looked at the first one this past weekend, and if buying a house was any indication, it’s probably the one we end up with.

Trip back to Saskatoon in March to go Tux shopping with my best friend, being best man and all I kind of have to be there.

Christmas was pretty good, got an Order of the Stick board game, can’t wait to try it out.

The biggest news that I started a new job. I now work as an IT Consultant for a small firm here in Calgary, we’re only about 20 people, but it’s a great group to work with and the clients are pretty friendly to work with. The job essentially means that I’m the IT department for multiple companies. I handle everything from building servers, to web site design/maintenance, to phone activation/troubleshooting and everything in between. It’s pretty much my dream job. I enjoy the job, I enjoy the challenges of setting stuff up and it’s just rewarding. When I drive around I sometimes see client vehicles and think, I manage your network and keep you guys running smoothly 🙂

I really can’t be any happier with my life right now. Well win the lottery, money not being an issue any more will be awesome.

Edit: Remembered that my tournament volleyball team won our first tournament. Literally down to the third game and as close as you can get. Monday night team ended the fall season in 2nd. Tuesday dodgeball ended up 2nd. Wednesday dodgeball ended up 4th. Not a bad season over all. Really happy with Monday volleyball though, that’s out of 30 teams, regular season record of 20-4.

Same old same old

by on Jul.17, 2012, under Personal

Same old story, I suck at keeping constant updates going on. But it really boils down to me not scheduling time to do this on a regular basis. Or if I do, I forget about it with so much to do.

So what has happened since the beginning of May?

  • LAN party was a huge success. Awesome friends. Lots of gaming, generally all around good time.
  • My good friends Luke and Grace are now married, they’re such an awesome couple. Technology is so awesome. I was able to do their music for them for the whole night sitting from the dining area 🙂
  • Another bachelor party, this time for one of my best friends Lindsey. Paintballing and poker were in store for the night. Couldn’t get a hand to save my life, lost 40 bucks 😛
  • Yearly camping trip with Chrystal’s family, awesome people. Another little one on the way, this time to the childless uncle. That makes him the last one of Chrystal’s aunts/uncles on that side to be a dad/mom.
  • Been helping Lindsey build a deck this past week. It’s not bad, I’ll get a little progress album done soon.
Lindsey is getting married this weekend out on the way to Banff, destination wedding, sorta. It’s only an hour out of the city, but still it’s going to require an overnight stay there. Damn…. that sorta leaves me as the last one in my university friends circle to get married. Huh… good thing that’s next year.
Planning for that is going okay as well, we have the fall of 2013 picked, but not entirely sure when, or even where. I think picking a venue is the most difficult. Chrystal wants somewhere in nature, or naturesque and in Calgary that’s difficult, but outside it’s tricky for guests. Lots of time to plan, hopefully she and I can get it worked out nicely. If I have my way, it should be all done like a month before minus the minor things.
Well that’s it for now, I’ll put more up later.

I’m going to name my kid Caution. Why? So that people that know me will have a completely different mental picture when they hear the phrase, “He threw caution into the wind”.

PS. I will do a full update later.
